(Warning: Hard painful truth, not for the faint-hearted)
1. IGNORANCE: “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).
Most Christians don’t know they are royalty. They are also pathetically ignorant on what it takes to create wealth and achieve financial prosperity. They think it is a game of “claim-It-Receive-It”. They don’t know how to set up successful business ventures and establish viable investments.
2. LACK OF VISION:
“Where there is no vision, the people perish…” (Proverbs 29:18 KJV).
It takes vision to succeed in any area of our lives, and that includes areas of money, riches, prosperity and wealth. Most Christians have no personal vision for their time on planet earth.
They have their eyes “firmly fixed on the riches in glory”.
3. NEGATIVE ASSOCIATIONS TO MONEY, WEALTH & PROSPERITY:
“Curse not the rich in your bedroom…” (Ecclesiastes 10:20).
Most Christians believe the devil hides in wealth and prosperity. They believe money is the instrument of the devil.
The more money and richer you are, the more difficult it is for you to enter heaven.
The less money you have, the easier it will be for you to enter heaven. Unfortunately, you cannot attract into your life that which you curse.
4. UNDISCOVERED, UNDERDEVELOPED AND UN-DEPLOY POTENTIAL:
“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men” (Proverbs 22:29).
Most Christians don’t have well-developed skills.
They sometimes think spiritual gifts are only for “spiritual matters.” They can discern an evil spirit but fail to discern a good business deal. They have undiscovered, undeveloped potential, that remains dormant inside them.
5. LACK OF STRATEGY AND PLAN:
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps” (Proverbs 16:9).
You need a strategy and a robust plan to succeed in becoming rich, wealthy and prosperous. Unfortunately, many Christians think “It is up to the Lord to bless them”.
They don’t strategize or plan anything but simply hope “the Lord will make a way where there seems to be no way”.
They forget God expects them to plan and strategize, then commit their plans to him so that he establishes their steps and makes them prosperous.
6. LAZINESS AND UNWILLINGNESS TO ACT:
“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty” (Proverbs 14:23).
Many Christians just love to talk and talk, but do very little.
They talk about prosperity but do very little to work and bring about that prosperity.
They would rather have some prophet lay hands on them and pronounce success and prosperity over them than wake up early at 5am to go buy tomatoes for resale.
7. UNWILLINGNESS TO INVEST IN WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE:
“Get wisdom… get understanding. Though it costs ALL you have… get understanding” (Proverbs 4:5&7).
Most Christians just love free things. They want a free blessing, a free gift, a free seminar, a free ride, a free meal. They are not willing to pay for wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
You can easily fill up COMESA Hall with Christians coming to a “Free Anointing Service”, but you will be lucky to get ten attend a paying seminar on Business Management and Investments.
PS: I have exaggerated a bit, just wanted to drive a point home. There are some Christians who are knowledgeable, have a vision, have positive associations to money, well developed skills, well formulated plans, hard-working and invest in knowledge and wisdom. I am sure you are among these few! Have a blessed weekend.
