“When We Stop Believing God will Do EVERYTHING for Us…”

…that will be the day Malawi will start moving in the right direction. Yes, I mean when we will stop pushing EVERY RESPONSIBILITY to God and start taking full responsibilities for our choices and actions. That will be the day this country will get fixed. We have a very “unbiblical” reliance and dependence on God which makes us lazy, pathetic, non-thinkers, non-planners and ultimate failures.

THE CHOICE IS OURS, not God…

“See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction” (Deuteronomy 30:15). It is up to US to CHOSE LIFE and PROSPERITY. But we are too lazy and think God should do it for us. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverb 18:21). We use our tongues very badly in Malawi and we speak more death than we speak life. We respect death more than we respect life.

We want to construct a house, we pray and “wait upon the Lord”. We want to pass an exam, we pray but don’t study. We want to get married, we pray, but do nothing to socialize and meet the right people. We want the economy to grow, we pray, but don’t plan, don’t trade, don’t build efficient businesses, and we steal 60% of our national budget! Listen: This is NOT what the Bible teaches. “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth” (Proverbs 10:4)

Do you want to construct a house? PLAN, CALCULATE THE COST, MAKE THE MONEY! “Put your outdoor work in order and get your fields ready; after that, build your house”. (Proverbs 24:27 NIV); “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower (house). Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? (Luke 14:28NIV)

Do we want a thriving economy? TRADE INTERNATIONALLY (export more than we import)! “The king had a fleet of trading ships at sea along with the ships of Hiram” (1 Kings 10:22). “He agreed with him to construct a fleet of trading ships”. (1 Chronicles 20:36)

I can go on and on, but I am so convinced that many of our churches are not helping this country progress. We teach people to focus on Heaven and nothing on how to live a productive life here on earth. How many churches teach about financial management? How many churches teach about personal planning and goal-setting? How many teach about enterprise development? How many teach about economic management? How many teach about budgeting and debt management? If this is not taught by churches, where will the people learn them? From a “worldly education system” controlled by corrupt politicians? Listen, this country was working when churches were running schools, hospitals, clinics.
