King David was an extremely wealthy person and a God-fearing person at the same time (to the point of being called “a man after God’s own heart”?)
In 1 Chronicles 22:5, it is recorded; David said, ‘My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord should be of great magnificence and fame and splendour in the sight of all the nations.
Therefore I will make preparations for it.’ So David made extensive preparations before his death.
In verse 15 and 16 there is an account of the preparations David made.
These included a provision of a hundred thousand talents of gold (about 3,400 metric tons!) a million talents of silver (about 34,000 metric tons!) quantities of bronze and iron too great to be weighed, wood and stone.
…now this is too much wealth to be passed on to your son! This man was beyond wealth!!! He sure understood the principle that says, “A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children…” (Proverbs 13:22)
