Government has refuted claims that the girl who lost her life in Dedza died of the deadly Ebola virus despite her showing strange signs such as nose bleeding.
The Director of Health Services Charles Mwansambo said there is a possibility that the girl died of other diseases.
“Diseases like cancer also show similar signs like Ebola and its not new for people in the country to loose their lives in such circumstances.
“Sudden deaths have been there, people should not jump into conclusions to say that the girl died of Ebola,” he advised.
He revealed that the girl in question lost her life three hours after she arrived at the hospital.
“People should not panic, we have not yet registered any case of Ebola in the country.
“We did not test the deceased to find out if she was attacked by the virus but it is not Ebola,” he added.
In the mean time, as per Ministry of Health records the deceased was buried by health personnel since villagers were afraid of contracting Ebola.
