The DPP plan to have its on force inside the Malawi Police Service has hit a wall as donors continued to withhold aid despite leadership change in the country.
According to inside sources from both the DPP and the Police Service, the plan did not go as planned as only 300 DPP cadets manged to make into the Police service.
The sources confided in Afriem that the 2000 did not make it because of financial constraints government is experiencing at present.
“As soon as donors resume aid, for sure in the next recruitment of the 1700 remaining will be recruited in the Police service.
“Actually the 2000 DPP Cadets reported for trainning but some were sent back. When police authorities wanted to reduce the numbers, they had to ask how we (recruits) secured a place and they reduced us (DPP recruits) to 300,” said one of the source.
