Peter Mutharika has called reserve Bank of Malawi to divert part of the US$69 million World Bank credit facility loan in the building of a Factory and fast track the green belt initiative to create Jobs within Malawi.

In his letter, Peter Mutharika said: “As far as we see importing as a first measure to answer our problems, people will keep fronting to other countries and be killed there,” he said, adding:”Its time to stop seeing a Landlocked country as an importing country. Having no access to good roads should help us fight to do more within since transport will always be expensive for us.”

The letter further disclosed: “Malawians should know that my five years measure to claim my glory will not be judged by trying to import more goods into Malawi for business, but rather like my brother Bingu Mutharika and Kamuzu who fought the IMF and World bank to create Job within the borders.

“Let me ask you, should our main aim be exporting Raw Material hence exporting jobs and our people overseas later importing finished goods or should it be creating jobs within?

“It is time we use the money wisely like Kamuzu and Bingu. My education and the years i have spend in the diaspora tells me a nation does well when its people have got Jobs and when it produces goods within its borders.”
