Woman dies at fellowship

0

A woman in her 30’s in the lakeshore district of Nkhotakota in central Malawi is reported to have died while at a fellowship in Dwangwa early this month, Afriem has the tip.

A source in the district confided to Afriem that the incident happened on a Sunday afternoon at Matiki Primary School where some ‘believers’ assemble for fellowship led by un named prophet within the Illovo Sugar Estate.

“The woman was among those who came for the fellowship prayers on that day and it so happened that she went in front along with others to be prayed for, and when she fell down the prophet continued praying for her while the members continued singing but she never came to,” a source while choosing what to divulge explained.

It is not clear whether she fell down after being pushed as the case is with some prophets or it was due to an illness or response to the prayers, but Afriem understands that when she fell down she started vomiting blood and the focus of the prayers and songs were on her, as it was taken that she was responding to the prayers and it that whatever was troubling her was getting “OUT!”

“The vomiting was like kuchotsa zoipa to the people which made the people continue praying for her but they were surprised that after stopping vomiting for half an hour she was still down and motionless.

“It was at this juncture when she was taken to the nearby Matiki Clinic where the shocking news came from that she was brought in dead which disturbed the whole prayers and shaken the area for people started questioning as to what might have killed her,” said the source, hesitant though to reveal more.

But Afriem found out that the woman who was commonly called Eneles was an employee with Illovo Sugar Group in the Security department at Illovo-Dwangwa and that her remains were taken to her home district, Lilongwe for burial the following day.

Afriem can further report that the matter was not reported to police, even for a ‘sudden death’ report. Postmortem results are under wraps and the issue seems to have died as
well.

No official was ready to comment on the matter as it has some religious connection, an area which many take as a very sensitive to comment with a free mind.
