Pen Play bites at Flames Coaches on Gabeya

The inclusion of Big Bullets star Miracle Gabeya has attracted reservations from Sports Editor at Times Media who feels the National Football Coaches have gambled in recalling the defender into the Flames camp and eventually picking him for the final squad.

The Flames are flying to Tanzania where they will meet the country’s Taifa Stars Wednesady before having a return match Saturday at the Kamuzu Stadium, in Blantyre.

Kanjere in the two week old column appearing in the Sunday Times, argues that Gabeya has of late been warming the bench even at his club level and it is a surprise that the National football team coaches picked him when they argued that they will be giving a chance players who are having game time at their respective clubs.

Miracle of contradiction, is the topic for this week’s Pen play, in which Kanjere tackles both international and Malawi football.

Malawi squad also has two surprises in the names of Goalkeeper Simplex Nthala and Striker Frank Mhango who have been not featuring at their respective sides because of suspension and injury respectively.

Gabeya is one of the miraculous youthful defenders in Bullets camp but he has been denied game time in recent days. Ironically when he was featured on Saturday in a game his team played archrivals Be Forward Wanderers he was at his best.

Full Malawi squad: Nthala and Brighton Munthali (Goal keepers), Stanely Sanudi, John Lanjasi, Yamikani Fodya, Pilirani Zonda, Limbikani Mzava and Gabeya (Defenders), Isaac Kaliati, Chimango Kayira, Micum Mhone, Levison MAganizo, Gerald Phiri Jr, Dalitso Sailesi and Ng’ambi (Midfielders), Manase Chiyesa, Robin Ngalande, Chawanangwa Kaonga and Mhango (Strikers)
