Poor Malawi football: Still learning

0

Its not yet over until it is over…..Fruits of indecisiveness and bias is proving to be costly to the already cash strapped Malawi football but only few seem to be concerned with his as nothing to discipline those who cause the chaos is done by relevant authorities.

The battle for justice in the way a 16th team was to be selected for the forthcoming TNM SL is still on…. chati chubwi sichinawoloke…

Reports reaching us are that Dedza Young Soccer will have to face the other teams in the play offs to find the team that will join the so called Malawi elite league.

Dedza protested against the decision by the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) for the three 2015 relegated teams to play a mini league in order to get the team to join the SL.

An injunction was obtained stopping the play offs after Wizards played Airborne already. Wizards won the game 2-1 with goals from Bernard Chimaimba and Patrick Phiri. Stain Malawi scored for Airborne.

In their wise thinking, Dedza said Sulom did not take a proper decision to announce at a late time about the play offs as it had previously indicated that it would relegate only two clubs in the 2015-16 season and bring in three to fulfill their plans of having 16 teams starting from the 2016 soccer season.

However Sulom statuses, in Article 16 state that three bottom teams are relegated to the lower leagues, with three teams getting promotion from the lower leagues to the main league.

Ironically, the new guidelines adopted in November have it that 16 teams are supposed to be in the 2016 Super League, forcing Sulom to use play offs in order to have the 16th team.

When Dedza went to seek justice from the court, the court asked Sulom to meet the complainant and resolve it amicably.

And in the determination Sulom has been mandated to reschedule the remaining play offs 0as soon as is reasonably possible and that Dedza must participate.

It was also resolved that the result of the game between FISD Wizards and Airborne Rangers FC will stand and count for the first match of the play offs.

However Dedza Young Soccer will have to vacate the injuction obtained.

Sulom will also have to meet the costs of the teams in the play offs.

The seating also resolved that any party aggrieved by the determination should be accorded a right to appeal further to FAM if so minded on payment of appropriate fees and within the stipulated time frames before the play offs are scheduled.

Keep your eyes open…..
