Chakwera mourns veteran politician Simkonda

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Dr. Lazarus Chakwera joined thousands of people in mourning one of the country’s politicians Mr Simkonda.

Simkonda has been laid to rest on Thursday at his home village in Chitipa, northern Malawi.
Speaking at the funeral, the MCP leader said he was disheartened with the loss of Simkonda who diligently served the country in different capacities including that of a Member of Parliament.

Said the MCP president:”With a heavy heart I join the mourners on the loss of our own and beloved leader servant of our beloved Malawi Congress Party.

“Mr. Simkonde’s death is a big loss not only to the family but the MCP as a party and Malawi as a country, May his Soul Rest Peace.”

Dr. Chakwera then asked the people of Chitipa to continue loving one another saying as Malawians we need to live in harmony and look to a brighter tomorrow.

“Let us show brotherly love which comes first even before our parties and political associations.
” I also thank the Church for the participation and tireless love that is always there for the country despite being scones and indeed many negative factors,” Chakwera said .

He added: “The departure of our fellow member should not divide us but bind us together as we work to regain a prosperous Malawi for all.

May God Bless you and thank you all for coming to attend the funeral and console the bereaved family.”
And in his speech, the party district chairman thanked the President for honoring the former parliamentarian.
“We thank you for lifting the sleeping spirits with your coming to the funeral of our departed leader. Your leadership is un parallel indeed.

” To the VP , we all thank you for the support you rendered to the late chair when he was sick.
“This gives hope to all of us and people here also appreciate for the cow you provided for relish during the funeral,” said the chair.
