The leadership of People’s Party had reiterated that former president Joyce Banda might be gone for good for fear of torture by DPP.
Banda left Malawi soon after the 2014 tripartite elections and has since then never returned home even for a visit.
There have been growing calls from different quarters for her to return home and clear her name in the cash gate scandal following the mention of her name by other convicts.
PP spokesperson Ken Nsonda has told Afriem that there is nothing for the former president to do home as she is busy working on her Joyce Banda foundation activities abroad.
” Why do you want her here, she should come to do what? For DPP to torture her?” He quizzed.
The former president is enjoying honour abroad and has been making headlines on the media both local and international since she left Malawi.
According to Nsonda even if she comes home the Mutharika adminstration is yet to find her a house.
” Government is playing hide and seek games on the issue of the former leaders house so you want her to sleep in a tree?” He adds.
Nsonda disclosed that the party will be meeting soon to discuss the way forward.
Some people call JB’s prolonged stay abroad self imposed exile for fear of being arrested.
