Cashgate prisoner, Senzani set free


Cashgate first convict who was pardoned by government ,Theresa Senzani has been released by the Malawi Prison Service barely a ayear and a half in prison where she was supposed to spent three years.

Senzani was set free by the Maula prison authorities at around 10:30 AM today.

The state claims Senzan has been freed because of her good conduct in prison while she was serving her sentence.

The Former tourism pricipal secretary was handed a 3 year sentence for defrauding government because she pleaded guilt and never wasted the courts time.

Just recently as government continues making Malawi a breeding place for thieves, Vice President, Saulos Chilima disputed claims that names of some ministers and DPP top officials were shortlisted in the infamous K577 billion cashgate.

According to Chilima DPP has always been a clean party and does not entertain thieves.

“There was no single minister no any other government top official that was involved in the theft.

“The juniors were mis-using Ifmis on their own they were not getting orders from any authority,” said the out of favour vice president.

He further warned the opposition to concentrate on their business not that of the DPP.

“Opposition should mind other business as Mutharika and the cabinet are making sure the journey to prosperity is on track.

“We e are doing what we can to solve the country’s problems. We are not to blame for electricity and water problems, rivers are dry and water levels in our water bodies are just too low hence the problems.

“The opposition is claiming that Mutharika is leaving these problems deliberately so that he later solves them at at last minute for campaign, that is not true,” he said.
