The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has embarked on a campaign of forcing the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) to promote relatives to DPP Officials and other DPP sympathisers working in the financial institution.
Information from the blue camp has confirmed the deadly arrangement.
“They have been instructed to promote DPP royalists before the May polls. This has been done to award them for siding with DPP through thin and thick all this while,” said a DPP senior official, adding:
“The mood is very low and has affected revenue performance because there is too much nepotism and bias in the institution.
“They have told staff to apply for interviews of any post they admire and aspire for promotion.”
“But the truth is they are targeting their relatives and DPP sympathisers that they should promote them before the elections and leàve the rest of the staff members frustrated.”
According to the same information, MRA Deputy Commissioner General has been entrusted with the task.
Domestic Tax Commissioner Nellie Jimu from Thyolo is also backing the promotion of DPP colonies within MRA at the expense of long time serving members of staff deemed to be sympathetic to the opposition
In the same boat is Commissioner of Customs and Exercise, Fatch Valeta a nephew to Rosa Mbilizi.
