Bingu catalysed cashgate-JB

0

The former President of the country, Joyce Banda has insisted that she is clean on all allegation she is being accused of, and she has disclosed that Bingu knew about the vice but never acted on the matter.

Speaking at a press briefing, Banda said that she fought cashgate in her time, a problem her government inherited from Bingu Wa Mutharika.

“When i came in power on 12 February i was issued with a letter from the Reserve Bank of Malawi that said billions were being stolen from government.

“The then President is in the letter saying: “Okay i will look into the issue,” but he did nothing on the issue. The time i came in government there was nothing the former president, Bingu did to stop the vice,” she said.

She added that 72 people were arrested in her time in cases relating to cashgate.

“They tried to scare me by saying that they would implicate me in the scandal.

“I did not stop and they were arrested. I have been in Malawi for a year but nothing has happened to me.

“If they have evidence that i was involved  why are they not arresting me,” she added.

The former President has endorsed Dr Lazarus Chakwera as the next visionery leader to take Malawi to greater hights.
