The Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) has urged the electorate to bring forward evidence that some political parties are collecting voter certificates from Malawians.
Making the call Mec spokesperson,Sangwani Mwafulirwa said that those who are buying or collecting the voter certificates must be reported.
“Our electoral laws do not allow that so it is an offence to do that,” he said.
The spokesperson has confirmed receiving reports on people who are doing the malpractices.
“people are calling us but they are failling to bring forward information.
“We need evidence pertaining the vice.
“Once we find the suspects the law will take its course,” he said.
Reports are everywhere that the United Transformation Movement is collecting voter certificates from voters.
The reports have also revealed that the party is copying serial numbers on the voter certicates in an an attempt to rig the forthcoming elections.
