Strange ailment attacks BT,NE students

Some government schools in Blantyre and Nsanje have been attacked by a strange ailment.

In Blantyre  atleast 50 students from govermment schools developed the seizure one after the other while in Nsanje 20 pupils have been hospitalized  because of the same ailment.

Confirming the development,  Nsanje District Health Officer, Stanley Chilungu said the situation has been contained.

“The students were fainting one after the other and they were rushed to the hospital,” he said.

He added that the students have now been stabalised.

“They are being treated as out patients because they are now stable.

“We are appealing to the parents to remain calm  because the situation is under control,” he said.

He further said that investigation are underway to establish the cause of the sickness.

“Our charges are on the ground to establish the cause of the seizures.

“Soon we will be able to tell people what is happening,” he said.
