The Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima has opened the 2021 Malawi Annual Agriculture Policy Conference at Bingu International Conference Centre with a call to all stakeholders to undertake comprehensive research activities aimed at producing research findings that will help policy makers to make policies that are good for Malawi.
Chilima added that there is a big need to take Agriculture sector as a driver for economic growth where through it, job opportunities can be created.
He has asked the researchers to do more research and come up with good research findings which government can rely upon when making informed decisions.
Speaking earlier on before the Vice President, The Agriculture Deputy Minister Agness Nkusankhoma hinted that Agriculture Ministry will continue working tirelessly in finding best solutions to Agricultural diversification to make sure that Malawi 2063 vision achieved easily.
MwAPATA, the Malawi’s local research institute and other stakeholders including Center for Agriculture Transformation (CAT) and Ministry of Agriculture have organized this annual Agriculture policy conference which is themed: Supporting Agriculture Transformation in Malawi: Beyond Research to Implementation.
