Lowe engages Illovo sugar management; shares notes on best irrigation practices.

The Agriculture Minister Hon. Lobin Lowe, MP, is currently touring Illovo Sugar company in Nchalo, Chikwawa to appreciate strides the Cane production industry has made and get first hand information on how Illovo is incorporating the Smallholder farmer into their supply chain.

Lowe says this tour is very important as he wants to appreciate how Illovo, Smallholder farmers and his Ministry will work together under Shire Valley Transformation Project to achieve the goals of the project wbich is under construction now.

The Minister will also visit some smallholder cane growers at Phata to share notes for improved production and then he is expected to monitor progress of Shire Valley Transformation Project which is expected to benefit thousand of farmers in both Chikwawa and Nsanje as this canal upon its completion will provide an opportunity to farmers to undertake irrigation farming.
